Hey ya’ll! I’m a married woman now. Can you Belize it!? We’ve been back from our honeymoon in Belize for some time and have been enjoying our new life as Dr. and Mrs. Fella.
re still waiting on photos literally just received our photos from our photographer and need to go through them, but I didn’t want to leave you guys hanging, so I thought I’d share our vows. During our ceremony, Fella and I played rock/paper/scissors (best out of 3) to determine who went first. After a little strategizing with his best friend beforehand, Fella ended up winning; he was told to play rock every time. That little stinker!
Get your hankies ready!
My dearest [Bex],
We first met when I visited Blacksburg, having made my way through California, Kentucky, and England. What were the chances? We got to know each other. We fell in love. How could we not? I will never forget the first time you told me you loved me. It was the happiest moment of my life. It was the moment I knew I was going to marry you. We’ve been colleagues, friends, doubles partners, roommates, travelling buddies, homeowners, pet parents, and partners in crime.
Today we become husband and wife. Today I affirm my love for you, and vow to share my life with you in everything.
I promise to always have time for you. To put you first. I promise to hold you every morning, to always ask you about your day, and to always kiss you goodnight.
I promise to never let our spark dim. I promise to make you laugh. I promise you fireworks and waffles.
I promise to do the things that make you happy, even – or perhaps especially – when that means making dinner, curling up on the couch, and then going to bed at 8PM.
I promise to show you the world and try new things with you.
I promise to grow with you and build a life with you that gets better every day.
I promise to support you as you support me. To be your friend, your companion, your confidant, and your greatest champion. I promise you my unconditional love and undying devotion.
I promise to be the man you deserve. You make me want to be that man. You are my light. You are my inspiration. You are my true counterpart. You are My Dearest [Bex]. That is all I need. I love you.
When you pull me in close to slow dance in the kitchen, you melt my heart. When you kiss me on the forehead, I can’t help but smile. When you sing off-key duets with me in the car, you remind me of the person I want to be – always.
Being able to bask in your love is the best feeling in the world.
[Fella]: you’re sweet, you’re funny, you’re incredibly smart, and you’re not bad to look at either. You acknowledge my strengths and accept my faults. You make me want to be a better person every day. I’m so incredibly lucky to be the one you’ve chosen to witness your life and I’m proud to call you mine.
So to my friend, my instigator in trouble, and companion, I promise to always share my food with you and to never stop holding your hand, to comfort you in times of sorrow especially during a rough Falcons season, and to always listen to what you have to say (though I may not always understand since you talk with a funny accent).
I swear today to be your navigator, your tormentor, your best friend- your wife; to honor, support, and cherish you through all of life’s adventures. I vow to grow old with you and to keep the kid within you alive.
But most of all, I promise to love you under any circumstances; happy or sad, easy or difficult, through the sunshine and through the rain for the rest of my days.
I give you my trust, my heart, my soul. Because for crying out loud, you know I love you.
You can be sure I’ll be sharing some more pictures from the wedding and honeymoon in the coming weeks.
And yes… Belize was amazing!
