Honeymoon in Belize

Hi ya! It’s been a while. I’ve just been enjoying married life and working my little tail off at work leaving me not-so motivated to write. Such is life.

When I last shared, I posted a handful of pictures from our wedding. So the logical next post is honeymoon pics, no…?

But before the fun stuff, here’s a bit about where we stayed.

We chose an all-inclusive resort, but didn’t pay for all-inclusive. We wanted a really nice place, but we didn’t want to be tied down, ya know?

We stayed at Portofino Beach Resort just north of San Pedro, Belize. Since it was a special occasion, we decided to book a beachfront cabana and it was the epitome of a honeymoon room when we arrived: flower petals on the bed, a bucket of champagne on ice, hand towels in the shape of hearts on the bathroom vanity- they went all out for us.

They have a bar and restaurant on-site, complimentary kayaks and bicycles, and the friendliest staff I’ve ever had to interact with at a hotel… except one of the grounds keepers tried to steal Fella’s flip-flops off our porch, but they were promptly returned to us with a pathetic lie as to where they were. I figured only the desperate would steal used rubber flip-flops and encouraged Fella to leave them, but he decided he wanted to keep his honeymoon flip-flops… sorry groundskeeper thief- I tried.

Just some of the things we did while on honeymoon: zip-lined through the jungle, toured the ancient Mayan ruin Xunantunich, jet-skied, swam with some sharks and a manatee, and ate all the foods. As for must see/do on the island, I would suggest taking a golf cart out to Secret Beach, take a trip out to Caye Caulker, and grab a meal and take in the views at Crocks and Tiki Maya.

Suffice to say we had the most amazing honeymoon. It was a great way to spend the first week together as husband and wife.

And now for the good stuff…
