This is a piece I wrote 2 years ago reminding my readers of the tragedy that took place on April 16th, 2017. For most people, today is just another day, but for those who have a connection to Virginia Tech in some form, today is a solemn day; a day of mourning, a day of remembrance. Today we are all Hokies.

I always “forget” about it until it pops up in my FB memories. I remember I was a sophomore in HS when this happened and several classmates having siblings who went there. Thank you so much for sharing insight on something that usually gets placed on the back burner until the anniversary returns. I could not imagine continuing to work in the building after it happened. But us Hokies are strong.

Yes ma’am! I hate that something so tragic happened, but it really brought such a feeling of unity not just among the community, but around the world.
