Cheers, England.

We woke up Friday morning to an overcast sky and drizzle; typical weather in England, but a first of our trip. Fella had arranged, the day prior, for us to meet up with his mom one last time before we made our way south. We packed everything up, dropped our cases at the car, and headed to the infamous York Wall to kill a bit of time. Continue reading

Meatloaf in Manchester

I’m a planner. I like to have a set itinerary. I like to have an idea of where and when I’m supposed to be somewhere, especially on a trip away from home. But you know what? I’m starting to get over that idiosyncrasy. Not that I don’t believe in the power of a well thought out plan. Its just… I hate when things don’t go accordingly. I tend to work myself up expecting a certain outcome, and when it doesn’t happen, even if I have no control over the situation, I become upset. Not in a distraught fashion; it’s more of a depressive state. As a result, my mentality has shifted. Why set myself up for the possibility of being let down? I have taken on more of a ‘go with the flow’ disposition. Continue reading

More Clocks, A Beach, & Meeting The Family

We made it to Newcastle around lunch time and as soon as Fella had a bearing of where we were, he decided the first place to see was his old flat. It was a normal looking end unit apartment on the corner of 2 fairly quiet streets. For purely cognitive purposes, I snapped a quick picture (that’s not weird, right?), and we went on our way. We made it to Newcastle city center where once again we were presented with the frustrating question Continue reading

We’ve Done the Planes and Trains…

Day 3 of our journey consisted of nothing but travel, which made for a rather long day; a 16 hour long day to be exact. We left from Paris on the Eurostar heading back to London. From the station, we jumped on the tube towards Heathrow where we reserved a rental car. We did this for 2 reasons: a) neither of us wanted to drive anywhere in London (especially because there is a fee just to drive in the city! Preposterous, I know!), and b) it Continue reading

London a.k.a The Home of Big Ben

Where to start… Obviously, I want to start at the beginning of my trip, but should I tell you guys about the obnoxious drive that took an extra 2 hours more than usual (almost 6 hours total) to get to my parents the night before the flight because of Spring Break traffic, or when I got my bunny man settled, he decided to chew on my mom’s 100 year old oak table like the naughty fuzzy-butt he is, or that I woke up at 5am the day of my flight hoping to exhaust myself by the evening so I would be able to sleep soundly on the plane (which didn’t happen)? Continue reading

I’ve Only Just Begun

As I alluded to in Reaching Puddle Jumping Status, I’ve never considered myself a traveler. Not that I believed it was impossible… It was more a fear of the unknown; different cultures, different food, different languages, different normalcy to everyday life. I was happy in my own little corner of the world. Sure there were destinations sitting on the bottom of my bucket list waiting to be checked of, but Continue reading

Reaching Puddle Jumping Status

You guys! I’m finally doing it! I’m hopping on an airplane and headed to a far away land in less than a week! Me! Just a small town girl, 🎶 living in a lonely wooorrrld, took the midnight train…. ahem. Sorry. Got a little carried away. But seriously… I’m heading to England and France; places that I’ve only ever dreamt of visiting, and I’m so stinkin’ excited! Continue reading
